To my Aces Jiu Jitsu Club Family –
I was asked to share my opinion on the Covid situation and our Jiu Jitsu future. The following is my opinion. We are learning about this virus all the time. If you have a different opinion, by all means do what you think is best. I am not giving medical advice.
I graduated medical school from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1996, and completed my residency in Family Medicine in 2001. I became Board Certified in 2002, and have been practicing as a family physician since then in various settings, including ER, outpatient medicine, and inpatient medicine. These are my credentials, but I fully acknowledge that we are in the beginning stages of our learning of this disease. Again, I am not giving medical advice here, I am simply writing down my opinion as to the most reasonable ways to minimize risk amongst my training family, all of whom I care about and many of whom I know well enough to know that they will be training Jiu Jitsu again, at some point , in some form, during this pandemic.
